The sparkle and splendour of Christmas is unfolding at the Isaiah Tubbs Resort in West Lake as the annual Festival of Trees continues this weekend.
About 200 beautifully decorated trees, related seasonal decorations, gift baskets and treasures are on display for the three-day silent auction. The weekend also features a Christmas Boutique, baked goods, jams, jellies, pickles and preserves.
The festival, hosted by the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, is supported by County businesses, organizations, groups and individuals. Volunteer entertainers perform throughout the weekend.
“We have dozens of volunteers that make this festival a possibility,” said Liz Jones, Auxiliary President. “Some work many hours preserving and baking, arranging volunteers, setting up, and no matter the time commitment, the efforts come together and allow us to dedicate 100 per cent of the earnings to health initiatives in our local hospital and community.”
Jeanette Arsenault will host a children’s program beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday to welcome Santa Claus to the resort. He will be meeting with children and said he has plenty of time for photographs from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. He’ll return Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The show continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is no charge for admission. All proceeds go to the auxiliary to support the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital and the purchase of new scopes for its endoscopy department.
