CAREGIVERS SUPPORT AfternoonsThe Alzheimers Society of Prince Edward County welcomes caregivers and their partners on the second Tuesday of the month at 1pm at 90 King Street, Picton office. These couples who face challenges inherent in living with dementia can share common concerns in a safe, understanding environment. Always a learning experience for all involved. CAREGIVERS SUPPORT EveningsThe Alzheimer Society of Prince Edward County caregivers group meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm. For caregivers of people experiencing dementia, the focus of the group is on the challenges of looking after someone living with dementia, the challenges and experiences and solutions. The latest progress in research and the literature are also discussed.

BUSY FEET PLAYGROUP – This active, gross motor playgroup offers physical activities for children 2-6 years old. Please bring/wear non-marking shoes for the auditorium.

YOGA CLASSES – Athol Recreation Yoga Class at the Athol Town Hall Tuesdays, 5:30 – 6:30 pm – and Thursdays, 9:30 – 10:30 am.

ARt-on-the-Shelf-600UNTIL May 26 – Art on the Shelf – An original art show and sale of works from 28 artists. Proceeds to benefit the Picton library. The show runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays including Victoria Day, from 11a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Black Prince Winery, 13370 Loyalist Parkway, Picton.

May 24 – Landscape Photography & Camera Modes Course at the Grange – Understand how to use the different modes on your digital camera to capture the best possible photo. Experiment with the different settings and compare. Click here for more info.

May 24 – PC File Management Workshop at Picton Library – 10 am – 3 pm (1 hour for lunch). Pre-requisite: Basic Internet Skills Workshops or equivalent. The workshop will cover basic file management on a PC only (for MAC/tablet file management, please contact the Picton computer lab to set up a 1:1 appointment at 613-476-5962 or computerhelp@peclibrary.org). File management includes how to create and move files/folders, how to rename files/folders, how to sort files/folders, and how to adjust icons/thumbnails. May 25-26 – Free TV Electronics drop off event at Home Hardware, Picton, parking lot from 9 a.m. top 4 p.m. Acceptable items include televisions, computers and peripherals, cell phones, cameras and radios.

May 25 – 3rd Annual Indoor PECCS “Better than a” Yard Sale – Hosted by the Prince Edward. Doors open 9am – 2pm. Quality treasures, Garden perennials, Coffee Shop & Bake Sale, BBQ Burgers & Hot dogs! Something for everyone!

May 25 – CRAM THE CRUISER Food Drive for the Picton United Church County Food Bank Saturday, May 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Sobeys Parking Lot, Picton. Sponsored by the OPP Auxiliary. Monetary donations also welcome.

May 25 – Friends Better Book Sale & Plant Sale at Picton Library – 10 am – 2 pm. Come get great book deals at the semi-annual Better Books sale held by the Friends of the Picton Library. This is a library fundraiser to help raise funds for landscaping and improvements to the front of the branch. There will also be a plant sale along the side of the building.

May 26 – Quinte Symphony concert 7 p.m. at Bridge St. Church, Belleville. Beautiful music for the start of summer and graduation, plus a touch of hilarious comedy. Tickets at the door. $20 adult, $15 senior, $10 students. Children with adult free.

May 26 – Consecon & Area Ratepayers Association annual general meeting 1- 2:30pm at Consecon Masonic Hall.

May 29 – Wellington Seniors Luncheon Social – Good food and conversation at Prince Edward Community Care’s Seniors Luncheon Social at the Wellington Town Hall on Wednesday, May 29th at 12 noon. Wheel House and Occasions Catering is preparing homemade soup, breast of chicken in a mushroom cream sauce, rice, yellow beans, coleslaw, buns and butter, coconut cream pie, coffee tea for $10.00 per person. Reserve your place by the Tuesday prior at 12 noon by calling 613-476-7493. Seniors are asked to bring their own soup bowl, plate, cup and cutlery. If you can’t come to the hall for this meal it can be delivered to shut-in seniors who live near Wellington. If you wish to have a take-out meal please advise when you register. MAY 31 – Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Tag Day Friday, May 31st. Buy a tag and support our hospital. All proceeds go toward the purchase of a stretcher for our hospital.
