Extensive renovations are complete. A new digital projector system has been installed and interest in the grand old lady of Main Street is stronger than ever.
To celebrate the Picton Regent Theatre’s achievements a Fiesta Fundraiser and art sale is being held at the Picton Golf and Country Club’s The View Restaurant Thursday, Oct. 13 from 5-8 pm. Tapas, prepared by various Prince Edward County chefs, will be served with a complimentary glass of champagne.
Event co-chairs Veronica Cluett and Mary Tucker said the highlight of this special evening will be the “mystery” art sale.
“More than 100 County artists have been approached” said Cluett. Each piece of art will be no larger than 8½ x10½ and will be displayed in a frame. The artist may use the frame as is, or as a shadowbox or plinth to display anything from jewellery, paintings and sculpture to pottery, photography and fibre art, said Cluett. Each piece is being offered for sale for $50. The mystery is that the artist’s name will be hidden behind the piece so the purchasers will not know whose work they are taking home until it is purchased.
“This is a celebration of the new Regent as well as a fundraiser for the digital projection equipment,” said Tucker. “We are celebrating new programming, more live events and the newly completed renovations,” she said.
Music for the evening will be provided by Pearl – Frank Artes, Lorri Taylor and John Cadeau with Tom Dietzel on keyboard. Emcee for the evening will be local actor Don Watson who has performed with various theatre groups in the area.
Another special event that night will be the re-launch of a seat sale for the Regent Theatre. Seat sponsorships were first offered 16 years ago when the Regent Theatre Foundation was created, and at the Fiesta seat sale sponsorships will be offered at $200 each.
“We expect a sell-out of this special event of the season,” say Cluett.
She and Tucker are quick to acknowledge the generosity of the many community volunteers, County chefs, the many artists and the Golf Club for providing the venue.
Tickets are $75 per person ($50 tax receipt), as well as a chance for a door prize. Space is limited to 125 so contact the Regent Box Office at 613-476-8416, extension 28 to get your ticket today.
