Glorious Aurora Borealis over Prince Edward County

Prince Edward County photographer Steven Draper says he missed the best burst of Monday’s spectacular light show in the early evening but he captured this magnificent image at about 4 a.m. this morning. The Aurora Borealis is a natural light display in the sky, particularly in the high latitude Arctic and Antarctic regions. It is caused by the collision of charged energy particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere. Countylive.ca, and indeed many of its daily viewers, will miss the magical images shared by Draper over the past year as he and the family are heading back over the pond early next month.  Fans can keep up with his work at https://www.facebook.com/focusbritain Image courtesy stevendraper ©2011

  1. Theresa says:

Great photo!! Thanks Steven. I missed seeing the “lights” last night.

  2. Stephen Draper and his lovely and very talented wife, Caroline were, jewels in the crown civilized decency here on the county. I will miss their wit, their generosity and mostly their easy going ways. Every once in a while I’ve the pleasure of getting to know truly wonderful people like the Drapers. I count myself among the fortunate. Hey Stephen…those who say the sky’s the limit have a limited imagination. You Sir have an infectious imagination. Cheery-bye my friends, Be well.

  3. Thanks Sue and Amber — and my family and I will miss you guys and all our wonderful friends here in PEC too. 8^)
