Founder celebrates 95th birthday volunteering at food bank

FoodBankBirthdayGIRL FoodBankBirthday1 FoodBankBirthdayIt certainly wasn’t unusual for Beth Thompson to celebrate her 95th birthday at the Picton United Church County Food Bank. She has been supporting the food bank for the past 30 years. In 1983 as leader of missions and stewardship at Picton United Church, she was among the founders of the food bank program.
“We thought it was going to be a temporary measure at the time,” Thompson said. “But, here we are still – helping people.”
The celebration at the Food Bank included Tim Hortons coffee delivered by Paul Massey (roll up ‘Sorry, play again) and birthday cakes from Sobeys.
