This 2013 ball season, the County Peewee Lynx joined the Eastern Ontario Select Baseball Association for the first time.
The eastern loop consisted of eight teams ranging west from Pickering, north to Peterborough and east to Kingston.
The LYNX SOBA team was formed from both PEC Peewee House League teams. The players continued to play the season within their two designated house league teams and then 12 additional games within the SOBA loop. Both County Peewee house league teams closed the season with solid performances. The SOBA team finished its season with a record of nine wins, three losses.
Recently the team travelled to Bowmanville for the Eastern Ontario SOBA Playdowns.
The Lynx met Ajax Friday night for a tight battle with a final win of 8-7. Saturday morning saw a match against Bowmanville. Final outcome, 12-2 for the Lynx. Saturday afternoon, the team was defeated in quarter final action against Oshawa. Due to defensive runs per innings ratio, the Lynx fell short to proceed to semi final games Sunday and the possibility of a spot in the Ontario championships.
The team thanks its house league parents who made their experience possible. They also thanked local businesses for their financial sponsorship – Gord Mark Heating & Cooling, 4 Rod Investments, Greers Propane, Gilmours Meat Shop – paramount to the team’s success.
