The Prince Edward County tourism website PEC.on.ca has partnered with county news source, Countylive.ca to promote the County’s unique character to visitors, new residents and investors, right across Canada.
Anne VanVlack, of InfoLink Web Site Development in Picton, is the creative thrust behind KickinCounty.ca, an online, streaming audio station that is already broadcasting local news, weather and events, while promoting local businesses and entertainers.
“We are very excited about the impact KickinCounty.ca can have on tourism and the local economy,” said VanVlack. “Radio is widely acknowledged as a great marketing medium offering good return on investment to a limited, mainly local market. That’s fine for businesses only seeking local customers, but to businesses located in a community such as ours, so dependent on tourism, it is important to reach new and returning customers where they live.”
KickinCounty.ca Internet radio is broadcasting Prince Edward County news and entertainment to listeners across Canada, 24 hours a day. In addition to local content, the station also plays popular music, features interviews with local business owners, authors and artists, and provides regularly updated public service announcements
Initial feedback from listeners has been positive.
“We love your radio station. The music is so varied and beautiful! Don’t change a thing!” commented Anne and Dave Arcand, of Arcanada B&B.
“That is outstanding,” said Janet Davies, of Cherry Valley. “I listened at work today and didn’t want to turn it off. I love the mix, and the local songs and the snippets of info.”
Much more local content will be added to the station over the next few months. Starting mid-July, online contests will give listeners the opportunity to win prizes such as unique, hand-crafted pottery, jewelry and passes to recreational activities. A grand prize draw in September will see a listener win a weekend getaway package valued at $600.
“Kickin’ County is Prince Edward County proud,” said VanVlack. “Proud of our community, our local businesses and our talented musicians. We will broadcast the best the County has to offer to internet radio listeners here at home, and across Canada.”
