A Country Fair for All at Ameliasburgh

“A Country Fair for All” is the billing of the Ameliasburgh Fair. And the weekend event indeed offered something for everybody.
Below, a look at the fair through the lens of Phil Norton, intrepid leader of the Photography Outings and Workshops group designed for photographers, artists and nature lovers.

The “Photography & Fitness” program runs twice a week, exploring unique places in Prince Edward County and the Quinte region, plus weekend retreats beyond local borders including Algonquin, Montreal and North of 7 back country.

“We mix walking exercise with our artistic pursuits and tramp through natural areas as well as local village streets by day and by night,” says Norton. “After one year of regular outings, a core group has become a community, sharing many of the values that the Transition Town movement promotes. We contribute to the Friends of Sandbanks, the Friends of the Frink Centre and other naturalist groups as well as the Reaching For Rainbows, after school program for girls at St. Andrew’s in Picton.

“Food is also our focus four times a year at a seasonal pot luck dinner with slideshows of the participants’ recent work.”

Visit the group’s website for details and a schedule of upcoming outings online (or copies of these photos and others):
