PEC quilters present stunning creations at bi-annual show

QuiltABOVEQuiltPECStitch by stitch, members of the Prince Edward County Quilters’ Guild, created hundreds of stunning quilted creations for the bi-annual show, held for the second time, in Wellington, this past weekend.

“I’m really impressed with the quality of the quilts that we have to show. It’s absolutely amazing. I think it’s the best show in the area,” said Maggie Goode, guild president and chair of the show. “I am really happy with the turnout and with our guild. The committee that has worked really hard to put on a top notch show.”

This year is the 26th anniversary of the Prince Edward County Quilters’ Guild founded in 1986 by Joan O’Neill of Bloomfield, Margaret Kerr of Big Island, Beth Hicks of Picton and the late Nina Hicks, Mary Lou Norton and Ruth Geary.

This year’s In Memoriam section honoured three members who died over the past two years. Connie Sirot chaired two shows and always reminded members to put a label on their quilts. Dorothy Dunn was remembered for her hand piercing and quilting and intricate applique. Betty DeMille was a long-time executive member who is remembered as “the library lady.”
