Soldiers marking the 100th anniversary of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry will continue their baton relay Wednesday travelling the Highway of Heroes.
On Sept. 10 between 2 and 4:30 p.m. the group will be travelling in a convoy, east on Highway 401 from Toronto to the Afghanistan Memorial at CFB Trenton.

About 50 soldiers from the PPCLI are retracing the symbolic route taken by the Infantry originals as they marshaled for service in 1914 on the eve of the First World War.  They are running from Edmonton to Ottawa, visiting 24 locations across five provinces.

They are  running with a baton containing the names of 1,866 PPCLI members who have fallen in active service to Canada. The  Memorial Baton is being relayed to Ottawa where it will arrive on September 18, 2014.

Motorists can expect delays near the convoy and support vehicles.  A police escort will be provided by Toronto Police Services within the GTA and Ontario Provincial Police the rest of the way to Trenton.

A beautiful tribute. Unfortunate that little is being done in Prince Edward COunty to mark this anniversary.
