Hospice Prince Edward executive director, Nancy Parks, receives $7,650 from Larry Carlow, relationship manager, Farm Credit Canada.

Hospice Prince Edward will use an AgriSpirit fund grants from Farm Credit Canada to create a “serenity garden”.

The $7,650 will be used to fund a garden that would be a source of comfort for residents’ families and caregivers.

Hospice executive director, Nancy Parks accepted the cheque from Larry Carlow, relationship manager with Farm Credit Canada, at the 40 Downes Ave., Picton location where construction is expected to begin this fall.

“We are grateful and honoured to be among the 78 successful projects, out of over 1100 applicants nationally,” said Parks. “Our serenity garden will be designed and built to create delightful interchanges, form lasting memories, and improve overall well-being. The children’s play area would incorporate natural play opportunities that positively impact the overall physical, cognitive, and emotional development of children.”

Carlow said Hospice Prince Edward is known for offering outstanding care to patients and their families in a peaceful, comfortable and welcoming environment.

“It is impressive to see the results that your volunteers and board of directors have achieved in the community during the past 25 years.”

The Farm Credit Canada (FCC) AgriSpirit Fund is providing $1 million to rural community groups across Canada to support capital projects that will help improve the quality of life for residents.

Hospice Prince Edward is a non-profit, non-denominational organization whose mandate is to provide palliative and bereavement support to families and individuals of all ages in Prince Edward County  without charge.
