Three deaths related to multi-vehicle collision

UPDATE June 25 – Prince Edward OPP report the male driver of the westbound motor vehicle, 83-year old Lawrence Harper, of Brighton, died Wednesday. He had been transported to hospital with life threatening injuries.
JUNE 21 – Two motorcyclists were killed and three people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision on the Loyalist Parkway at Stapleton Road.
Saturday, June 20 at about 2:25 p.m. Prince Edward OPP officers were called to the scene.
Police report a group of eight motorcycles was travelling eastbound on the Loyalist Parkway when a westbound Mazda Miata crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with three of the eight motorcycles. Two motorcycle riders were pronounced dead at the scene. Three others – the driver and passenger from the Mazda Miata and another motorcycle rider – were transported to hospital with serious to life-threatening injuries.
Motorcycle riders Darren Philip Williams, 46, of Quinte West and Edgar Wayne Boone, 58, of Ottawa were pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver, 83 and female passenger, 80, both of Brighton from the Mazda Miata and another male, a 65-year-old motorcycle rider, of Sydenham were transported with serious to life-threatening injuries to hospital.
Assisting members of the Prince Edward detachment were the Prince Edward County Fire Department, Quinte Hastings Paramedic Services and the OPP Technical Collision Investigators.
The investigation is continuing. Names are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

We have to be very vigilant on the roads, especially during tourist season. Drive defensively. Give yourself enough space to stop in an emergency. Obey the speed limit. Check twice before changing lanes. Save the carefree for the lawn chair.
Such a sad incident. Condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives and those who were injured.
Marg, it happened right in front of a winery. It’s tourist season. It’s more than possible they were taking selfies with hillier creek estates and had no idea that was the site of the accident.
Thats a quick judgement. Perhaps they were family members of those involved? Don’t always assume people are the worst.
This was a horrific accident, but when my husband drove by today, there were actually two carloads of people stopping to take photographs of themselves at the site. What sort of goulishness makes people think it’s OK to take photographs at a spot where two people died and three people were severely injured?
