  1. This is an issue in small rural towns all across the province… It needs to be discussed more and covered more by the media.

Townships that are experiencing the same fight should band together and take back control of our rural municipalities in areas that are clearly of environmental interest.

North Frontenac, a small township near bon Echo provincial park just declared themselves unwilling hosts. It seems like ultimately this declaration means nothing and will mean nothing. Residents have gotten letters saying that the proponents will continue to try and move forward despite. Other townships are having their town councils bribed to support proponents.

    What can we do?

  2. Sam says:

But Angela, we didn’t elect Wynne. We elected the Todd.

  3. Chris Keen says:

    This from Quinte News:

“Mayor Robert Quaiff has been informed that there is likely no chance of a having a meeting with Premier Kathleen Wynne regarding industrial wind farms destined for the County.

Thursday, Quaiff received a phone call from the Premier’s assistant Andrew, who said “the chance of a meeting in all likelihood will not happen.”

Quaiff says he was told the process is in the stages where the government will not interfere or become involved in discussing and or placing a moratorium on WPD applications.”

Wynne was always going to hide behind the “process” and run out the clock. The fact that the “process” is deeply flawed and undemocratic could matter less. Very sad.

  4. Angela says:

Seems that Dictator, ummmmmm sorry, “Premier” Wynne, has things on her mind other than keeping the people who elected her happy

  5. Marie says:

Don’t loose faith Jack, most people are just starting to get angry!

  6. Jack Dall says:

WPD and the MOE will run us out of money to fight this . Our elected officials are sitting on their hands, talking heads. They were given a mandate by the residents of South Marysburgh to no avail. I cannot sell my home at $40,000 below assessed value for municipal tax purposes. “No” isn’t,t working.. Maybe it,s time to consider a different avenue.

  7. Susan says:

I would suggest an aboriginal strategy. Stand up, everyone and do not allow that carbon equipment in the County. And pray for a change of government in 3 years. Put up every delaying tactic possible.

  8. Susan says:

No of course not. It is Federal election time and he will be out of Prince Edward’s riding. Nice knowing you, good luck with your issues! See you.

  9. Chuck says:

Where’s Daryl Kramp on this??? I know it is a provincial issue but my God does he not have a take on this for the constituents who are fighting like h..l?

  10. Emily says:

Wynne can count on our over inflated police force to keep the peace. Handing them yearly exorborant salary increases ensures it. Like Prince Edward needs around 50 cops to race around and never ever walk the beat!

  11. Gary says:

There are going to be some huge neighbour battles in South Marysburgh between the ones getting the big land lease deals and those that are beside them with worthless property.

  12. Susan says:

Perhaps. If this was still Leona’s riding they might not be so intent on winning the day! The approval of WPD while the Gilead stoppage is still upheld by the courts is just dirty politics however. But they may already know the outcome of Gilead while we wait for another ERT. I think they have a done deal on both and are playing us for fools.

  13. baysider says:

Quaiff didn’t refuse the money the liberal government gave us for the new road through Rossmore. You should never bite the hand that feeds you. Maybe if Todd Smith wasn’t so vocal we might get more from the Liberals.

  14. Susan says:

And Wynne has the nerve to criticize Harper for not meeting with her. This is a well thought out deceitful plan to overide and conquer Prince Edward County. The fact that it is Smith’s Tory riding makes it all the sweeter.

  15. Mark says:

This is one sneaky untrustworthy government. Didn’t they give the Gilead approval just before Christmas so as to catch everyone off guard and not able to rally an appeal? And now this one in the dead of summer. Coincidence? I think not. Just another unscrupulous tactic!

  16. Myrna Wood says:

Well done, Mayor Quaiff. We need to get this messages out on all media. Then she might feel the need to meet with you.
