Mayor talks County at gala dinner in Toronto

Quaiff-and-Wynne

UPDATE: The mayor added they also discussed health care and infrastructure woes. He also confirmed County taxpayers did not pay for his ticket.

Prince Edward County Mayor Robert Quaiff took a moment for pleasantries with Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne at Thursday’s Journalists for Human Rights gala in Toronto.

“I’ll leave it to your imagination as to what the conversation was about,” said Quaiff, who last weekend at the wind turbine rally noted how he was “making his name known around Queen’s Park” for his concerns about the County being an “Unwilling Host” for turbines in an evironmentally sensitive area.

He noted he was pleased to see the Prince Edward County Winemakers association was a sponsor of the wall of wines.

The gala included 300 of Canada’s top journalists, media executives, law, business and political leaders at the Arcadian Court in Toronto.

Journalists for Human Rights is a Toronto-based organization that aims to empower journalists to provide objective and ethical reporting on human rights issues. They recognized journalists from South Sudan to DR Congo and illustrate the powerful social and development impact of their work.

The Night for Rights is the annual benefit gala to support the JHR programs. More information about JHR at www.jhr.ca.

  1. County Tacitus says:

The likelihood of a mayor from rural East Doofusville having any influence on Wynne in 45 seconds at a “human rights” confab is nil. Wynne will drive relentlessly her urban, “progressive”, Alinskyist agenda- unimpeded- until 2018, and that is simply a fact.

  2. Gary says:

My apologies for my prior comment. I think the pic of Wynne and her casual smile got me going.

  3. Borys Holowacz says:

I agree with Homer, the mayor deserves a big Thank-You.

  4. Homer Simpson says:

Excellent job Mr. Mayor , keep up the good work and Thank-You very much, from your South Shore constituents.

  5. OJ says:

A big thank you to Mayor Quaiff for continuing to express to the Premier and cabinet the community’s strong opposition to the industrial wind projects along the County’s south shore.

  6. Gary says:

You failed to report on anything if any he got done. I doubt he would have had any opportunity to raise issues. Give us some news rather than a pic of a grand dinner on the taxpayers dime!
