Donation a burst of colour and warmth for local children

hospital auxiliary adopt a childPrince Edward County Memorial Hospital craft group members and friends knit 464 items to help keep children warm this winter. Det. Const. Ann Earle – Dempsey, chair of the Adopt-A-Child program, was delighted to receive the handmade donations Tuesday from Dorothy Speirs-Vincent, Jack Starkey, director of fund-raising projects, Denise Linnett, Rosemary Moore, Nancy Hicks, Joyce Minaker, Ann Brown and Liz Jones, president of the auxiliary this year. Knitters unable to attend the photo shoot include Dawn Hilton, Marilyn Kennedy, Willa Buckel, Diane Splaine, Beth Collyer, Bill Walby, Linda Jenkins, Kathy Watt.

Donations of worsted weight yarn are most welcomed by the Craft Group as members have almost used up all of their stash on the hats and mittens. Call Joyce at 613 476-4696.

The Adopt-A-Child program supports working families and those in need of assistance. Distribution of donations is set for the first week of November to more than 1,100 children in Prince Edward and Hastings counties.
