Mayor Robert Quaiff attended the organization’s annual President’s Awards Banquet in Toronto last Thursday to accept two honours on behalf of the County, in categories for municipalities with a population between 10,000 and 50,000.

“It is an honour to once again have The County’s marketing efforts recognized with these 2015 EDCO Awards,” said Mayor Robert Quaiff. “The County continues to be a leader in community and economic development in Ontario and recognition like this truly helps to elevate our profile.”

The first-place awards recognize excellence and innovation in advertising and marketing.

The Award for Advertising was received in response to The County’s “Progress Redefined” video developed in partnership with BBDO Toronto in late 2014. The video examines the idea of “progress” and what it means in Prince Edward County. The video has been viewed on YouTube more than 7,500 times.

Produced by the County’s Community Development Department with assistance from 1dea Design + Media Inc. – this external “lure” booklet was developed for new and prospective visitors and residents. This publication took the visitors guide in a new direction with reduced pages, abundant imagery and calls to action that promote food, wine, arts, events, heritage and other cultural experiences within The County.

More than 140,000 copies were printed and distributed in Toronto, Ottawa, Kingston and Montreal through the LCBO’s Food & Drink magazine and the Globe & Mail.

“There are many dedicated residents and businesses that are passionate about The County and create the content, products and experiences that lure people here,” said Neil Carbone, Director of Community Development. “The Community Development team, the Commission and our partners are grateful to have the opportunity to help share their stories and to continue to support the incredible brand and experience that is Prince Edward County.”

What tangible results?? Um how about none.

Just another piece to attract urban tourists to Prince Edward County.

The marketing of the County features continually pushing one thing: tourism and to one geographical area: the GTA.

Congratulations on creating excellent advertising and marketing products that won awards. Now, the real test is what are the tangible results of these beautiful pieces of advertising? How many new businesses have they attracted to PEC? How many new home owners have moved here? Has it changed our demographics? increased our population? contributed to the tax base?
