MAY 15 – PECI’s tennis team made school history capturing the overall championship at the Bay of Quinte tournament.

The team entered six of eight events and earned medals in five of them, capturing one gold, three silver and one bronze at the championships at Loyalist College.

Sam Ward and Taylor Snider won a ladies doubles gold, James Pero and Blaine Swackhammer won a men’s doubles silver, Tyler Allison won a men’s singles silver, and Isaac Cairns and Brittany Payne won a mixed doubles silver.

The team moves on to compete at COSSA Wednesday in Cobourg.

“Big thanks to community coach Dave Inch for his guidance and leadership,” notes PECI teacher Rob Garden who was coaching the team for the first time. “I was also very impressed with the kids’ dedication to practicing on their own to improve.”
