Two smoked salmon products recalled

salmon-recallSmoked salmon products manufactured by Central Epicure and Compliments are being recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The agency says the products were sold in Ontario, but may have been distributed in other provinces or territories. The affected products are:

Central Epicure’s wild sockeye smoked salmon sold in an 85-gram package, with the code 2017SE07 on it, and the UPC 061279003307.
Smoked wild Pacific sockeye salmon by Compliments. The affected product comes in a 170-gram package, has codes of either 2017MA30 and 2017JN03 on the product, and the UPC 623682112047.

The agency says there haven’t been any illnesses reported that are associated with consuming the products.

Check to see if you have recalled products in your home. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die.
