Family Day fun all weekend in the County

Family Day weekend fun began in Sophiasburgh on Saturday but outdoor winter carnival activities were curtailed due to warmer than usual temperatures.

The town hall at Demorestville was the gathering place for families, as planned hockey tournament and skating fun were shortened due to slushy conditions on the ice pad behind the hall.

Inside, there was plenty of fun and games, food and music.

Sunday, families attended special holiday weekend festivities at the Ameliasburgh Town Hall.

Fun included painting, games, a dress-up family photo booth, entertainment, free hot dogs, hot chocolate and cookies.

Family Day fun continues Monday at the Wellington arena, including free public skating, demonstration events from local skating and sports clubs, GPS scavenger hunt featuring the Millennium Trail and family games inside and outside

There is also a free Family Day movie – The Secret Life of Pets – at the Regent Theatre at 2 p.m.

The Prince Edward County Public Library led children in crafts and activities at the Sophiasburgh Town Hall.

The kitchen was the focus of attention for hungry visitors to the Sophiasburgh Winter Carnival activities.

Hanne Simoes created origami birds at the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory tables at the Sophiasburgh Town Hall.

Kaise Latchford Kulker, of Hillier, focuses on painting a bird house, during activities at the Ameliasburgh Town Hall.
