RONI SUMMERS WICKENS - It is with profound sadness that the family of Veronica (Roni) Ellen Summers Wickens announces her untimely death. Roni was the treasured best friend and true love of her husband of 26 years, Wayne Wickens. Roni is the beloved and amazing mother of Kara, Kayne and Makenzie, the pride and loves of her life. Although her life ended earlier than expected, Roni lived a full and active life, enriched by the many people who passed through it, and was very involved in her community, having served on dozens of committees and boards of directors. She was instrumental in supporting and building the not-for-profit and charitable sectors throughout the region including 17 years with the Community Development Council of Quinte and four years with the Picton Business Improvement Area Association. Roni was also very active in the soccer community, as a player, coach, Level 2 referee, referee mentor and convenor of Women’s Indoor Soccer for many years. Predeceased by her in-laws, Jack and Hilda Wickens, Roni is survived by her parents, Joseph and Gloria Summers, to whom she was able to turn for guidance, wisdom, and humour. She also leaves behind siblings Michelle Henderson, (George Krickovic), Lori King, Joe Summers, (Karen Keating), Christine Lee (John Lee), Jeremy Summers (Sarah Scott) and in laws, Ron and Anne Wickens, Larry and Donna Wickens, and Carol Wickens. Roni was the silly but wildly revered aunt to Shannon, Brandon (Courtney), Steve (Ashley), Jenna, Stacey, Lindsay, Meaghan, Andrew, Jessica, Tiffany, Victoria, Robert John, Calie and David, and was a great aunt to Brylind, Cohen, Bentley, and Cierra She is predeceased by her nephews Joshua and Nicholas. Roni will be missed by her aunts Elizabeth Mancina (Frank), Jeannine Kirchoff, (Mel) Patricia Summers- Jinright and array of cousins, Italian uncles, and dear friends too numerous to mention. A celebration of Roni’s life will be held at the River Inn Corbyville on Sunday June 23rd, 2013 from 2- 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established to assist the Wickens children as they pursue their education. Funds can be donated to the Wickens family, or via Paypal at wwickens@cogeco.ca “I expect to pass through life once, and if therefore there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again”* * *

ROBERT ‘Bob’ ROBB – August 13, 1922 – March 25, 2013 – Bob was a complex person. Born August 13th 1922, died on March 25, 2013 at Hallowell House Nursing Home. He led a fruitful, happy life. Like everyone life had its frustrations for him but lately he has been saying how lucky he has been, A happy life. When Bob moved to the County with his wife Jean in 1970 he got into things right away. He set up East Lake Marine in Cherry Valley. He was legally blind but became a marine mechanic people looked up to. Over the years he was asked by Manpower to train people with different disabilities. He trained many and those people were able to get jobs. Aside from being clever Bob was also wise. He stuck up for what he believed and fought for the ‘little guy’. While Bob had a hard outer shell he was quite compassionate. He was determined to not let his blindness deter him from doing things. Bob belonged to many committees and clubs. He was an honorary member of Cherry Valley Lions. He started the blind bowlers club in Picton and a social group for blind people. Bob was responsible for the Job Fair which was held in Armoury mall. It exposed people to the many services that are available in the community. Bob was a very good swimmer and had a lot of respect for the YMCA. He was a good dancer and enjoyed the music of the big band era. Bob enjoyed pets and they in turn enjoyed him. The last few years of his busy life were spent at Hallowell House. Bob was a good friend. Online condolences www.whattamfuneralhome.com * * * J
